About Us

When a passion is so strong, you can’t do anything but follow it. Two brothers decide to follow in their father’s footsteps, realizing the dream of creating an innovative company in the production of knitted fabrics: CM Tessuti. The determination to create new collections and the unconditional bond with the Italian textile tradition form the foundation on which CM Tessuti was born and continues to grow.

We are Christian and Marco and together we have chosen to produce fabrics, uniting the traditional know-how of our region, Biella, and the quest for the best yarns and fibres with the innovative skill of creating our knitted fabrics, setting ourselves the challenge of designing our products based on your ideas each day.

An intense passion, a strong drive towards the creation of something new and an unconditional link with the Italian tradition of fabric.

We are Christian and Marco and we are the life force of our company, cm tessuti. We produce knitted fabrics and “Made in Italy” is not just what we write on the label. It’s our philosophy.

The decision to produce our fabrics exclusively in Italy was entirely a conscious one, as was our choice to remain in the textile district of Biella, an area which has woven the history and story of Italian fabrics and where our family first founded the company back in the 1970s.

Beginning with tradition, namely the intrinsic value of our family’s roots, the region and skilled craftsmanship, our journey has let to the creation of an innovative knitted fabric.

Producing knitted fabrics is not simply a question of technology and machinery. Our work is based on the ability to design and create something new. We are proud to say that we are often referred to as development partners, because when you tell us your ideas, we are already thinking about how to develop and create them with you.

“We have inherited our father’s dedication to skilled craftsmanship and its deep bond with tradition and added a staple ingredient of our own: the quest for innovation.”

We weave cutting-edge innovation into the Italian tradition of fabrics. Yet we haven’t forgotten the importance of tradition: our innovations are founded on the traditional craftsmanship which has always gone hand in hand with the development of Biella’s textile industry. This pride we take in the production of something which is both beautiful and well-made just like it was 40 years ago is what brings innovation and tradition together.

Our work is founded on uniting the traditional know-how, of the Biella region and the 100% Italian production of our knitted fabrics, combined with the search for the best yarns and fibres and an appreciation of what we are asked to create. Our most important goal is to produce new and exquisite fabrics based on your ideas.

TRADITION

Our work is rooted in tradition, linked to the past which has woven the history of the textile industry and continues to enable us to create high quality products.

MADE IN ITALY

We are creators and heralds of the Made in Italy philosophy, creating our fabrics through skilled craftsmanship.

COLLABORATION

We work alongside our customers to create something new.

THE PAST

As well as the heritage of craftsmanship and know-how of knitted fabrics, the past is also home to our history and traditions.

BIELLA

Biella is more than a region: it’s a cradle of knowledge. To create quality fabrics, we have chosen to work alongside local companies in Biella who share our philosophy, our working values, our commitment and our vision of excellence.

“We work to create knitted fabrics by uniting the Italian tradition of craftsmanship, the know-how which is handed down from father to son, the Biella ethos of a well-made product and the development of new fabrics which meet our customers’ needs”.

There’s a secret to how we create the fabrics our customers want: we combine the traditional craftsmanship we learnt from our family and the Biella people with research and innovation, focusing on the creation of new and exciting weaves.
We design our fabrics with you. We believe it is important for the customer to be involved in every stage of the research and development process.
This enables us to create textiles which are not only innovative but also respond to your needs.

We aren’t afraid of your ideas and input: we want to include them.
By founding cm tessuti in the Biella region, it comes as no surprise that we are surrounded by many local companies who not only share our culture but also the traditional know-how of our region’s history. It’s like being one big company.

It is with a touch of arrogance that Biella claims to be the beating heart of Italy’s textile industry, but for us this is a true source of pride. Here, fibres are transformed into something wonderful and special, thanks to natural elements like water, the historical companies with their unparalleled knowledge of fabrics and finally the workers, the true children of this land, who love their work and dedicate themselves to it with skill and devotion.

“We work to create knitted fabrics by uniting the Italian tradition of craftsmanship, the know-how which is handed down from father to son, the Biella ethos of a well-made product and the development of new fabrics which meet our customers’ needs”.

Cm tessuti is part of the history of the Biella textile district, an area which has long been recognised as the home of wool and the capital of the textile industry. As well as the craftsmanship which lives in the memories of the workers, Biella has a rich industrial history of factories and workshops located on the banks of the rivers which flow through the region.

The factory was first founded in 1899 thanks to the foresight of Adolfo Valle, an entrepreneur who in the early 1900s was an innovative driving force for the region, transforming his vision into a modern industrial system.

The long rooms are home to rows of shining looms which rhythmically and tirelessly give life to the fabric in a long and continuous production process.
Christian and Marco chose to found cm tessuti in a region where the history of the industry has witnessed an important sequence of events. At the base of the picturesque valley of Vallestrona, alongside the old tramlines to Vallemosso, the rhythmic sounds of the machines and the melody of the babbling waters of the Strona stream evoke memories of times gone by and yet which are still alive today, within and around the walls of the former Valle wool mill.

“We could have gone out into the plain to build a new workshop, but we chose to stay here, putting down our roots and building our future on the history of our land”.
